Clients and contacts of North East funding brokers IAP Consultancy enjoyed the excitement of the company’s annual Cheltenham Gold Cup Day at a County Durham pub.

Ian Pratt, founder of IAP Consultancy, organised the day, sponsored by chartered accountants Tait Walker, at the Plough Inn near Pelton, Chester le Street.

Thirty guests working in the region’s banking and independent funding sectors watched the races on big screens.

Ian said: “We all work hard so an opportunity to unwind was very welcome and it gave me a chance to say thank you to the people who support my business.

“Also, it offered a good chance for people from various fields to network and get to know each other.

“I have staged the event for years and it was again an enjoyable day. It helps people build up relationships.”

Andy Haslam, a Partner with sponsor Tait Walker, said: “It was useful to meet people who are in similar lines of business at an event with such a relaxed atmosphere. Events like this help build relationships.”

Rachael Guest, Relationship Director with Santander Corporate Banking, said: “People prefer to do business with people they like. Because business is done best on a personal level, to be able to spend time with other business people in a relaxed atmosphere was very beneficial.”
